Popular comedian Timothy Tapfumaneyi of the “Timmy na Bonzo” comedy fame is back with a new production titled “Timmy na Dazmeta” which is set to confirm his status as one of Zimbabwe’s top actors.
The 60-minute film also features Charles Jackson as Dazmeta, Tendai Maradzi (Mbatata), Derrick Nyamucherenga (Fish), Casian Muchenje (Givie) and Timmy’s real life son Tanaka Tapfumaneyi as Mafeki.
Produced and directed by Tapfumaneyi who plays Timmy, the comedy takes a closer look at workplace scenarios and how people act when they are suddenly given positions of authority at work.
The comedy portrays a typical workplace situation where there is nepotism in the way jobs are allocated, leading to corruption and substandard production.
Another theme shown in the film is how those who are temporarily left in charge can abuse their positions even to the extent of having their subordinates feed them as if they were babies.
“The film is not just about making people laugh but also conveys a moral message which will improve the way people behave at the workplace especially these days when more indigenous people are owning businesses,” said Tapfumaneyi.
When asked why he did not feature his erstwhile colleague Lawrence Simbarashe or Bonzo as he is popularly known, Tapfumaneyi said that Simbarashe was not feeling well but was involved in the project since the beginning with his moral support and advice.
“After taking a break for a while, we decided to do another stint in comedy because many people used to stop us in the street and ask when we were going to release another film so we decided to do a comeback,” added Tapfumaneyi.
The film is the first in a series and the actors are already working on part two which is due to be released in the coming months.
