THE Shift, a platform aimed at sharing ideas among young entrepreneurs who are running their businesses, is back with a bang, after a break.
Founder and philanthropist, Dr Chamu Chiwanza, said the platform was all about sharing ideas among young business owners.
The first session will be held on Saturday at The Venue, in Avondale, and admission is free.
In an interview, Dr Chiwanza said:
“The Shift is back with a bang and draws men and women across the business spectrum.
“It was established with the motive to have young entrepreneurs discuss nothing but business.
“It’s apolitical, non-religious and it seeks to decolonise the minds of young people from mental slavery.
“The idea came after realising that the education system is not addressing the business side of things.
“It does not tell us that we can own hospitals or tell us to the owners of schools.
“The Shift seeks to transform the lives of people and advance the development of women.
“We need to be empowered psychologically so that we have the capacity to venture into mainstream business.
“We also want to get rid of drugs.
“The idea is to demystify the oft-common thinking of Eurocentric, we need to be Afrocentric.”
According to Dr Chiwanza, The Shift is a neutral platform where solutions to current economic challenges are discussed.
“We want space for discussions without being labelled.
“The Shift provides for intelligent talk without minding about the politics of the day.
“The attendance at the platform is free and the session starts at 9 am and it’s aimed at sharing ideas, among those who are running their own businesses.”
Entertainment will be provided by Thembalami, Takura, Nox and King 98.
Chief Koti and Curtly Gwindi will be the hosts.
