The Sunday Mail gets new editor

ZIMPAPERS Group Chief Executive Justin Mutasa has announced the appointment of Edmund Kudzayi as Editor of The Sunday Mail with effect from yesterday. Kudzayi replaces Brezhnev Malaba who has left The Sunday Mail to pursue other interests. He joins from sosimpledesigns.com, a software and new media company in the United Kingdom, where he was proprietor and served as the head of product design.

A media consultant with a strong technical background in software development and digital media, Kudzayi is expected to aggressively expand The Sunday Mail’s multi-media presence.

In an e-mailed statement to our Harare Bureau, Kudzayi welcomed his appointment saying: “The Sunday Mail is one of the strongest papers in the country. I am delighted to be joining their talented team and am confident that we can build on its very strong legacy.”

Mutasa thanked Malaba for his 16-year service to Zimpapers part of which he spent as editor of the Sunday News, then the Chronicle and later The Sunday Mail, the country’s leading weekly paper.

He wished Kudzayi success in leading the country’s widely read Sunday newspaper.
“We are confident that with his multi-media skills he will be able to take The Sunday Mail to a higher level,” Mutasa said.

Kudzayi has written for various publications.
