ZANU-PF has finally resolved differences over the constitution of its Midlands provincial executive when members complied with a Politburo directive to incorporate cadres that had been excluded. The decision was made at a meeting held at the party’s convention centre in Gweru on Sunday. Party members also endorsed and approved the new provincial executive which was recently announced by Zanu-PF National Commissar, Cde Webster Shamu.
The Politburo resolved at its extraordinary meeting recently that four members, Cdes Justin Mazambani, Ernest Chipinda, Plaxedes Maramwidze and Majawa, who had been erroneously elected into the Midlands provincial executive be dropped.
It was further resolved that four other members, Cdes Tafanana Zhou, Chiratidzo Mabuwa, Freddy Moyo and Madonna Nyoni, who had been excluded from the executive be allocated positions.
In an interview soon after the meeting, Zanu-PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa said the unanimous decision will enable the party to make progress and successfully carry out its business.
“I am happy that we have finally resolved the outstanding issues in the province that saw the province going for close to three months without an incumbent executive.
“This was caused by the issues that cropped when the first executive was elected last year. I am pleased that Cde Shamu put forward the resolutions of the Politburo which were received by party members in a harmonious manner.
“This is an indication that we will definitely make progress. I have no doubt that as a province we are now going to move together and execute party programmes such as the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim Asset),” he said.
