TOP Zambian comedian, The African Joker, is expected in Harare tomorrow night as he rekindles his love affair with locals.
Born Eric Mwaanga, the entertainer will perform at 7 Arts Theatre, Avondale, on Africa Day’s eve.
He will share the stage with local comedy stars Uncle Bhutisi, Doc Vikela and Sipho Mercent Nyathi.
Surprise “underground” acts are also set to take part in the event, thanks to Proma Events in conjunction with DTL Entertainment.
“We are going ahead with The African Joker’s comedy show in Harare where we will be showcasing the best from either side of Zambezi.
“This will be the first time that he (The African Joker) will be visiting our shores and we do anticipate a night as we seek to create collaborations with our counterparts in Zambia,” said show coordinator Blessing “Messina” Jeke.
Jeke, who first met The African Joker in Mulungushi, Zambia, reckons locals have a lot to learn from him.
“The guy we are talking about has been touring Africa and having him come and perform in Zimbabwe, is a plus for creatives.
“We also hope he will also learn from the locals, who have been doing well in stand-up comedy, which is not an easy genre.
“This just the beginning of more to come from our stable this year as far as comedy goes.”
Bhutisi, Doc Vikela and Carl Joshua Ncube are some of the best local comedians.
The African Joker is also a radio personality in Zambia.
