THE twins are back in town.
Twins Association of Zimbabwe leaders, Farai and Tendai Katonha, are back from a global business conference in Kenya.
The identical twins told H-Metro they plan to organise a National Welfare Day.
They will invite twins from across the country to meet Government officials to improve their welfare.
They also hope to target maternity health worker s to reduce mortality rates in childbirth and empower citizens to manufacture local goods for export.
Tendai said he learnt that technology had taken other nations to higher levels.
“Zimbabwe has the potential to manufacture, process and export a number of things because of peace and resources,” he said.
“We have resources in Zimbabwe and, if we join hands in complementing the Government’s efforts, we can achieve far much better than other nations.
“We must preserve peace and create jobs instead of always looking for employment or anticipating a better life in other nations.”
Farai added:
“We were challenged by twins from other countries to stand for our people’s prosperity.
“They brought items to showcase during the conference and most of them wanted avocados from Zimbabwe.
“Chief among what we learnt is complementing the Government’s efforts to empower citizens.
“Hanzi hapana anobudirira nekutsoropodza nyika yake, uye kurwisa kuparwa kwedzimhosva nenzira yekuita mabasa anosimudzira mhuri zvinounza budiriro.
“We have started rolling out some projects to empower twins so that no twins die or starve.
“We will engage health officials and experts, who include gynaecologists, to improve safe child births and reduce the mortality rate.”
Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Belgium, Turkey, China, Russia, Iran, Brazil and Sri Lanka were among the 18 countries which attended the Global Business Conference.
