Books on the entrepreneurial journey have become ever so important, insofar as they inspire future generations.
However, what is even more important are books that are relevant in specific contexts.
‘The Will of Time’, a new book that looks at different entrepreneurial journeys, is particularly relevant in Zimbabwe in this day-and-age.
And, it is no surprise that the book has received some rave reviews from several of the country’s businessperson and leaders from various sectors.
The book, which was written by serial entrepreneur, Dr Rinos Mautsa, was launched last week at a ritzy event in Harare.
Dr Mautsa is the founder of several enterprises, including Picco Construction, Tech24 Group, Leisure Plus, Energy Plus, Chartered Institute of Customer Management (CICM) and Contact Centre Association of Zimbabwe (CCAZ).
The glamorous event was attended by several of the country’s leading businesspersons.
Special guest of honour at the book launch, West Properties Group chief executive, Mr Ken Sharpe, said at a personal level ‘The Will of Time’ was heartfelt.
He narrated his own life and entrepreneurial journey.
“The three heroes of the story are my heroes, because I relate to how they came from nothing to something. I am someone who really understands how to achieve the impossible. I am someone who knows what it is like to start off in life with nothing and face
“This is the story of the book, this is the story of my life, and this is the story of many Zimbabweans. Actually, when I was 16, my father sent me to the United Kingdom from Zimbabwe with a one-way ticket and 100 pounds in my pocket to start my life. Some people think it was benevolence, or that I had a head start in life, but that is not true.
The truth is I had to work hard, I had to sweat, and sometimes I had to bleed.”
Similarly, Securico founder, Dr Divine Ndlukula, said the book echoes her life story.
“The Will of Time resonates with own personal journey. The stories only emphasize the proven path for anyone who wants success that the best way is beyond your comfort zone.
“It is more so for women entrepreneurs because of the societal prejudice, but it can be done,” she said.
Following the simultaneous plots of the leading characters, from teenage hood to adulthood, the book reveals lessons that resonates with people from different walks-of-life.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Mautsa said: ‘The Will of Time’ was the fruition of a long-held passion.
“I wrote down my dream of writing a book over nine years ago, but I didn’t think my profile was big enough to write a book, but I was constantly encouraged by some amazing people,” he said.
“The book expresses the journey of faith and tenacity.”
