THE ‘ZIMBABWEAN QUEEN’

FREEMAN has collaborated with Jamaican superstar, Chris Martin, on a song titled Zimbabwean Queen, H-Metro can exclusively reveal.

The song is part of Freeman’s 13-track album, David and Goliath, set to be launched at Alex Sports Club on October 8.

Overall, the album has four collaborations, including with a Zambian artist, while the other two are with Zimbabwean artists.

In an interview with H-Metro yesterday, Freeman revealed that he turned to Chris Martin after failing to meet the demands of a number of African musicians.

Though he could not reveal the names of the other artistes he courted, he said their demands were beyond his capacity.

“I engaged a number of African giants in music before settling for Chris Martin. Their demands, however, were too much.

“These collaborations, if you are not yet recognised internationally, they demand payments, which we understand because it’s business, but we couldn’t afford what they wanted us to pay.

“However, my manager Watta has a link with Chris’ producer and we struck a deal.

“We did a collaboration titled Zimbabwean Queen. We used different languages, English and the Jamaican language (patois),” said Freeman.

He added:  “We are working hard to ensure that everything is in place come October 8. I’m inviting our fans to come in their numbers and support me as usual.”

The launch will be graced by Chris Martin while a number of local artists have been lined up to perform.
