Theatre group appeals for funds

The video, which will be entitled Vharazipi Two, is a continuation of their first project which took fans by storm.

Speaking to Chronicle Entertainment, Wellington Chindara said they had embarked on a massive fundraising crusade adding that they were appealing to all people in and outside Masvingo province to assist in cash and kind.

“Our first project was appreciated by the fans and as such our fan base has been growing in leaps and bounds. It is our fervent hope that the coming project will surpass the first one in terms of  following but the main challenge we have is  lack of resources to complete the project.

“We are in need of a number things ranging from venues, transport, food and video cameras. We appeal to well-wishers, in and outside our province to assist us with anything that can see our project succeed,” Chindara said.

He said the group was working towards making some improvements from their first project.

“Our first video, even though many people enjoyed the play, was done in an amateurish manner and was lacking a lot of basic components of video shooting. This time we will thrive to make amends and come up with some polished works.

“We have done our homework and I promise at its completion, it will be one of the plays not to miss. This is the reason why we are looking for support. We need video cameras, hotel rooms and a haulage truck for the shooting,” he said.

Chindara said the group will stick to the story line with HIV and Aids, corruption, gender-based violence (GBV) remaining some of the topical subjects in the play.

David Mubaiwa who plays the character, Vharazipi in the play said he was happy that fans were appreciating their efforts and promised to continue producing the best.

“We have a number of very interesting plays that we want to produce,” he said.
