ROOFTOP Promotions has announced that its venue, Theatre in the Park, is now open to all creative artistes — musicians, poets, dancers, film and theatre actors.
The space is often used for rehearsals, performances, meetings, workshops and other gatherings.
Producer Daves Guzha said the space was designed to benefit youths in the arts sector.
“The venue is designed to benefit youths in the creative and cultural sector and other sectors,” he said.
Ramabwe Mbira Acoustic Sound is set to perform at Theatre in the Park today.
The event will get underway at 7.30pm and fans will fork out US$5.
Band leader, Solomon Makwati, said this would be their first appearance in Harare after having been away for some time.
“The band is excited and prepared to be entertaining the fans after quite some time without a public performance in Harare,” he said.
Ramabwe Mbira Acoustic Sound was formed in 2003 and has two albums to its name.
The band was formed in 2003 and has performed at various joints, including Book Cafe.
The band is made up of Philip Vhareta, Esnath Mabhurasi, Nyasha Makwati, Leocardia Matshoba and is managed by Solomon Makwati.
The group is known for songs like Huruva, Ndaringa Ringa, Cheuka, Zavirira ra Tateguru, among others.
They attribute their growth to the helping hands of the seasoned guitarists like Kenny Mwanza (Midnight Magic), Mono Mukundu and Louis Mhlanga, who worked with them in some of the band’s projects.
