Theatre in the Park hosts comedy fiesta

being Simuka Comedy, who recently celebrated their first anniversary.
Also of note is the Bang Bang Comedy Club which also hosts monthly shows in Harare but it is this five-day thriller that will surely put the comics to test.
The line-up headed by Edgar Langeveldt features the talents of the legendary Michael K, news reading Toropito, award-winning Doc Vikela and Uncle Sam.
When contacted for comment, the co-ordinator of the event, Victor Mpofu, said: “We value this partnership with Rooftop and we are proud of this association as they have given us the chance to get closer to our fans who have not been able to access some of the venues we performed at.
“The fiesta is a celebration of what we have achieved as individual comedians and it’s a pity that Carl, Simba and Q the Boss could not be part of the event. We are very optimistic that this is the beginning of a lasting relationship between Rooftop and comedians alike and urge all and sundry to come and laugh their lungs out this monthend,” producer of Theatre in the Park Daves Guzha said of the partnership.
“We are glad to open up our doors to comedy. It has always been our mission to give back to the arts industry and this is one way of doing it. We want to contribute more and in a systematic manner to the growth of the comedy industry especially after Edgar Langeveldt launched his comedy career at this very same venue many years ago.
“This is the first of many partnerships with other players in the arts industry.”
The performers are of diverse personalities with Edgar being hilariously funny through his witty punchlines.
He has the ability to engage the audience and leave them in awe as they try and come to terms with his sporadic and outrageous style.
Michael K is a veteran in theatre and television acting and is a living legend of local stand-up comedy.
He is a hilariously funny comedian who will analyse every social scenario as he sets out to find logic and is very sharp, eloquent and smart.
Doc Vikela comes in as the doctor, as he psycho-analyses everything in his path. He is one of the rising stand-up comics and co-founder of Simuka Comedy. Toropito is iconic for his witty news bulletins and Uncle Sam is that funny guy you just want see and say wow! The show opened yesterday and closes on Saturday.
