UNITED Kingdom-based maskandi artiste Sisa Senkosi over the weekend released her a track titled Themba Kalibulali, a song through which she encouraged people not to lose hope while revisiting what she went through when she lost her cousin to cancer last year.
The song that was produced by Zinjaziyaluma is available on Sisa Senkosi’s social media platforms as well as YouTube.
Speaking from the UK, Sisa Senkosi said the song entails a journey of heartbreak which is caused by the diseases that are ravaging societies.
“The literal translation of the song is that hope does not kill, but on this song, I’m saying if hope could kill, I would have died long ago.
“The song is about what I went through last year when I lost my 12-year-old niece to cancer. We were told she had beat it, only for her to pass away a few days later. The song also relates to the fact that due to Covid-19, many people lost their loved ones and could not go and lay them to rest,” she said.
Sisa Senkosi said the song also seeks to comfort those who had planned to visit their families in different countries, but will not be able due to the new Omicron variant.
“Through the song, I want to comfort those that have been affected by travel restrictions. Most people had hoped to go home this Christmas, and just like that, that hope has been killed by the new variant that has led to governments enforcing restrictions.” – @mthabisi_mthire
