‘There is only one President’

MDC-T must embrace President Mugabe’s leadership and the Zanu-PF manifesto since the ruling party is going to lead the country until the next elections in 2018, Minister of State for Harare Cde Miriam Chikukwa has said. Speaking at her congratulatory dinner hosted by the Harare Youth Council and sponsored by Alchemist Projects, Minister Chikukwa said she was aware that the MDC-T had its own ideologies, but since it lost elections it should follow those of the ruling party.

“There is only one President who is President Robert Mugabe. It doesn’t matter where you are and who you are and because the President is one, he sets the pace and we all follow,” she said.

“I know the MDC-T might have their own ideologies, but now they cannot advance their ideologies. We have to work together until 2018. Now, we have to embrace the Zanu-PF manifesto because the President is from Zanu PF.”
Minister Chikukwa said her office represented the President in Harare and because she is a co-ordinator she has to embrace everyone.
She said Harare residents should be free to visit her office, not only with problems, but with solutions as well.

“They are Hararians, they know what is good for them so they should come with solutions to some of the problems, said Minister Chikukwa.

She said the Zanu-PF manifesto was not an election gimmick as the party was going to deliver on its promises.
Minister Chikukwa said President Mugabe made sure that women were respected in all facets of the society, adding that it was up to women to challenge man for leadership positions as the environment was conducive.
