Looking at the Unseen
JOSHUA 13:1 KJV
Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
These words were spoken to Joshua. He was old. He had made significant achievements, but despite all that, there remained much more land to be conquered.
Large areas of the Promised Land remained in the hands of its inhabitants.
There was much more of the promise to inherit. While the Israelites had taken over much of the land, significant areas remained, requiring continued action to fully inherit what was promised.
The past achievements of Joshua paled into insignificance when compared with the work that laid ahead and work that was left undone.
There is always more spiritual growth, more promises to possess and more victories to be won.
You are never too old to achieve what God wants you to achieve.
Do not relax or become complacent; but rather continue overcoming challenges and pursuing untapped potential and resources.
In your pursuit of spiritual growth, keep adding to what you have achieved. Keep increasing your skills and adding to your capacity. Do not stop learning. Do not stop looking for avenues to manifest your full potential.
God wants you to be diligent in improving yourself spiritually.
In 2 Peter 1:4-7 the Bible says: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [5] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.” What Peter is saying, by the Holy Ghost is that you should not let your guard down but be diligent in adding to your fine qualities.
When you have faith, add to it, virtue. Faith is your foundation because he that comes to God must first believe that God exists. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Virtue is the power of God.
When Jesus was touched by the woman who had an issue of blood, He felt that virtue had left Him. It had been drawn by the woman who got healed immediately.
Every Christian believer needs virtue.
On your virtue add, knowledge. Knowledge is the spiritual understanding of the Word. Don’t just have faith and virtue.
You must have knowledge which tells you what to do with your virtue. When you get knowledge, add to it temperance, which is self-control.
Control your desires and habits. Do not be wish-washy. Be disciplined.
To your self-control, add patience. Patience with God.
Abraham waited for Isaac for 25 years. Don’t be in a hurry with God. You need patience with other people. Don’t blow your top quickly. Be patient with those that provoke you. Be patient with yourself too. You are not there yet but give yourself time. Don’t be impatient. On top of patience, add godliness. Become godly.
Be like God. Speak godly. Walk godly. When you have godliness, then add brotherly kindness which is the bond of perfection.
When you have love for the brotherhood, all the world will know that you are the disciples of Jesus.
When you become a Christian, the journey has begun. That is not the destination. You are now a new born baby who needs to feed on the milk of the Word. You then grow from faith to faith, glory to glory, from one level of power to another.
When God does a miracle in your life, that is not the end in itself. It is a vehicle to another level. When the disciples returned from the mission where Jesus had sent them to go and preach the Gospel, heals the sick cast out devils and raise the dead, they were happy that spirits were subject to them through His Name, Jesus told them not to rejoice because of that, but should rejoice that their names were written in heaven.
Miracles and power alone are not what you should rest on. Strive to enter the narrow way and the strait gate.
When you are saved, believe for more. God has many more blessings that lay ahead for you from the time you believe. When He does something for you, do not put a full stop. Put a comma: more is to follow. His resources are untapped. He has no summit to Him.
You can never exhaust His riches.
Paul talks about the unsearchable riches of God. His ways are not searchable. His resources are unending. Believe for every supernatural blessing for which Christ died.
You have not yet reached the zenith of your potential.
