A thief known for breaking into people’s homes and stealing a range of properties in Hatcliffe has been sentenced to an effective five years behind bars by Harare magistrate Ms Caroline Matanga.
Edward Makore (33) was convicted of eight counts of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstances after a full trial.
The State led by Mr Takudzwa Jambawu proved that the first incident happened on October 28, in Hatcliffe Consortium at Keith Ravhu’s home who had left her house locked going to work.
During her absence, Makore forced open her cabin door and stole a car battery, solar panel, pots, solar controller, and US$90 cash.
On the second count, the complainant is Tatenda Ranjisi who also lives in Hatcliffe, whose solar battery, solar inverter, and solar controller were stolen around 7 pm by Makore.
Again, on October 27, Makore also broke into Elisha Makina’s house and stole electrical gadgets, various galvanised valves, flex connectors, and capillaries, among other things worth US$1500.
He used the modus operandi to steal property from Christabel Mupatsi, Richard Nyamayaro, Gilani Mazambuka, Dadirai Mupatsi, and Herbert Murandu all from Hatcliffe Consortium.
Some of the property was recovered upon his arrest.
