A daring thief in Chitungwiza was arrested at his girlfriend’s house wearing some of the clothes he had stolen from a flea market in the town. Lovemore Tigere (31) of Unit H Chitungwiza, who was in the company of his two other accomplices, on September 10 at Makoni shops stole various clothing items valued at US$540.
Tigere was yesterday brought to court charged with theft. He admitted to stealing complainant Madins Bindu’s bag containing various clothing from the flea market.
Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini slapped him with a 12-month jail term for the offence. However, three months of the sentence was suspended on condition he pays back US$3 238 to Bindu by end of September.
Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa proved that Bindu of Unit M, Chitungwiza, had packed his bags containing various clothing and shoes from the flea market and took the bags to his friend Tapiwa Manyuchi fo safe keeping.
Tigere and his accomplices only identified as Rambo and Guso, still at large, stole the bags after Manyuchi had left them unattended.
