A DUO employed as security officers at Garlpex Investments, Hwange has been nabbed for allegedly stealing mining material worth US$194 500 from the company.

Fungai Mufundirwa (38) employed as a security manager and Kaseba Cosmas Ngwenya (72) employed as a security guard appeared before a Hwange magistrate facing charges of theft of trust property.

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge and was set to appear in court later in the week for their bail hearing. Allegations against the duo are that sometime in July, they asked people to help them find buyers for mining equipment.

They brought a buyer from Bulawayo who bought the equipment at US$3 000 and the buyer later sold the equipment to a company in Bulawayo. The two suspects filed a police report that the mining equipment they had sold had been stolen.

Investigations were conducted and police received a tip-off that the equipment had been sold. The police further investigated the matter and managed to apprehend the buyer of the equipment who implicated the duo resulting in their arrest. The value of stolen equipment was US$194 500 and nothing was recovered.
