TWO men from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo allegedly stole two Honda Git vehicles, sold one which they later stole from the buyer and sold it again.
Elijah Ngwenya and Dexter Ngwenya, both aged 24, allegedly removed number plates from a car that was damaged in an accident and fixed them onto one of the stolen Honda Fit vehicles.
They then sold the Honda Fit to Mr Tapiwanashe Mupamhadzi for $2 500.
The duo allegedly later stole the car from Mr Mupamhadzi, changed the registration plates and sold it to Mr Nyashadzashe Madamombe.
They later took the car from Mr Madamombe saying they wanted to sort out it’s documents and gave him the other Honda Fit worth $3 600 which they had allegedly stolen from Mr Mpilo Moyo in Shangani.
Elijah was arrested by police at a sports bar in the city on August 11 while his accomplice was arrested on August 18.
Elijah and Dexter pleaded not guilty to theft of motor vehicles before regional magistrate Mr Joseph Mabeza who remanded them in custody to today for trial.
Prosecuting, Mr Tinashe Dzipe said the duo committed the crimes between May and July this year.—@MondelaC
