Thieves strip victim naked, steal $30

A GROUP of four men was arrested and charged with robbery after they purportedly stalked, assaulted, and robbed a man of US$30 before stealing his clothes, leaving him naked.
In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting of Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, “Kelton Muleya (23) of Chief Chundu area, Hurungwe, Takudzwa Chiwara (22) of Dowson Farm, Mvurwi, Edmore Mutandwa (33) of Mvurwi and Usher Tagarira (22) of Mabvuku, Harare were arraigned before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court facing robbery charges.
“On the 27th of July 2024 at around 0150 hours, the accused persons followed the complainant from a night club in Mutorashanga where he had been drinking. Along the way, the accused persons grabbed the complainant and assaulted him with open hands and fists. The first accused person tripped the complainant, searched him and took US$30 from his pocket. They stripped the complainant naked before they disappeared into the darkness. The complainant was assisted by a passerby who accompanied him to file a police report. The accused persons were later arrested and they led to the recovery of complainant’s money and clothes.”

The four were each given 12-month prison sentences, but 6 months were suspended meaning they will only spend 6 months in jail.
