Thirteen minutes for Tino as Lyon move off the basement

Sports Reporter

ZIMBABWE international striker Tino Kadewere played the last 13 minutes of the game, including six minutes of time added on, as Olympique Lyon stunned Monaco 1-0 to move off the bottom of the French Ligue 1 after 16 matches on Friday.

Kadewere was introduced in the 83rd minute, coming in for captain Alexandre Lacazette, with the game goalless.

Two minutes later the game was decided as fellow substitute Jeffinho grabbed the winner.

With the win, their second successive victory under caretaker coach Pierre Sage, Lyon moved to 16th in the 18-team league.

They have 13 points and things got better when Lorient and Clermont lost their matches to stay on 12 and 11 points respectively.

That means Lyon can go for the festive break off the bottom of the league if they avoid defeat at home to Nantes tomorrow.

Despite not finding the target yet this season, Kadewere has been getting game time in the second half of the campaign.
