THIRTY YEARS AGO, THE DREAM ADVENTURE STARTED

ON Sunday, the clock marked 30 years since the Dream Team’s campaign to qualify for the ‘94 World Cup got underway with a home victory over Togo at the National Sports Stadium.

The late Adam Ndlovu scored the solitary match of the game, in the 67th minute, as the Warriors opened their account with a narrow 1-0 win.

Two months earlier, the team had started their ‘94 Nations Cup qualifying campaign with a 4-1 thrashing of Bafana Bafana, at the giant stadium.

The Dream Team would then go on to take their World Cup campaign to the final match of the qualifiers, where they lost 1-3 to Cameroon’s Idomitable Lions, in an ill-tempered match, in Yaounde.
