The number of Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) farms that Government says will be returned to investors after remaining gazetted but unoccupied during Zimbabwe’s land reform programme.
Acting Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Anxious Masuka, said the move forms part of efforts to consolidate land tenure security while maintaining that there will be no reversal of land reform.
Government also announced plans to issue title deeds to 360 000 A1 farmers and 23 500 A2 farmers, while more than 70 000 Old Resettlement farmers are set to receive permits, leases and offer letters.

The number of people killed in a horrific road accident involving a Malawi-bound DNC Luxury Coach at the 175km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway in Suswe, Mudzi District.
Another 33 passengers were injured, six of them critically, prompting Government to declare the disaster a national emergency under the Civil Protection Act.
Authorities said the bus was carrying 62 passengers, including seven children and three crew members, when the crash occurred. Government pledged burial assistance and emergency support for affected families.

The number of rural institutions electrified across Zimbabwe under the Rural Electrification Programme, one of the country’s largest infrastructure expansion drives. According to the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), 11 365 institutions – including schools, clinics, farms, business centres and villages – had been connected to electricity by May 4 this year.
The programme has already electrified 3 244 primary schools, 1 614 secondary schools and 1 084 health centres and clinics, with Government targeting universal electrification of all rural schools and health facilities by the end of the year as part of Vision 2030.

The number of Labour Court judges elevated to the High Court this week as Zimbabwe moves to expand and decentralise its judiciary.
Lawrence Masimba Murasi, Doreen Lilian Hove and Custom Kachambwa were sworn in by Luke Malaba amid plans to establish new High Court stations in Kwekwe and Gwanda.
Judicial Service Commission officials said Zimbabwe currently has about 80 judges, a figure viewed as too low for a growing population and expanding justice system.

The quartet of Gerren Muwishi, Dennis Hove, Leeford Zuze and Thandazani Ndhlovu produced the historic time to finish fifth in the final and qualify for the 2027 World Championships in Beijing.
The performance marked the first time a Zimbabwean relay team had reached a World Relays final, with athletics officials hailing the achievement as proof that locally developed athletes can compete on the world stage.
US$1,4 billion
The value of investment commitments secured by Zimbabwe during the first quarter of 2026 through the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA).
The commitments came from 162 potential investors, with strongest interest recorded in energy and infrastructure projects. Renewable energy alone accounted for eight investment leads, while infrastructure registered seven.
