THE Thoroughbred Breeders Association of Zimbabwe (TBA), in conjunction with the local horse racing authority, Mashonaland Turf Club (Mashturfclub), is set to conduct a sale of yearlings at Borrowdale racecourse on May 14. The sale starts at 5PM at the racecourse’s Parade Ring. A substantial number of two-year-old horses will go under the hammer to the highest bidders on the day.

Adrian Naidam, speaking on behalf of the TBA, said the horses were being sold on behalf of local horse breeders.

“As the mother body of all horse breeders in the country we will be conducting a sale of two-year-old thoroughbred horses at the racecourse. However, the number of yearlings set to go under the hammer are not as big as they used to be in the past,” said Naidam.

The talented horses among this lot will soon be knocking on the doors to success in the process make headlines a few years from today.

Soon they will be working for the graduation certificates in the maiden races. After this stage they will take part in juvenile races before they go for the Triple Crown race which is the ultimate test of a thoroughbred runner to prove what they are made of.

At the end of the sale, players in the horse racing industry will quickly dash to the Ipi Tombi Bar for the Castle Tankard Grade (1) Race card call. The race will be held on Saturday May 16 at the same venue.

During the card call Mashonaland Owners and Trainers Association (MOTA) will try to raise excitement and support within the racing community towards this coming big race meeting.
