Thousands of people thronged the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo yesterday as the fair opened to the public.
The trade fair which started on Tuesday and ends today, is running under the theme, “New Ideas to New Heights”. The first three days were dedicated to business.
As early as 8AM people had lined up at the gates and by mid-day there were long winding queues.
In separate interviews, some people said this year’s ZITF was bigger and better compared to last year.
“I was here as early as 8AM because I did not want to wait in the queue for long. I have moved around a number of stands and observed that the quality of exhibits has improved compared to last year.
“One of the spectacular stands is that of the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services where this time around the ministry stand has the Gushungo Monuments Gallery, which highlights the social life of President Mugabe and his family, the liberation struggle and national development issues,” said Caroline Ncube from Nkulumane 12.
She commended the government for coming up with such an initiative saying the gallery was informative and educative especially to the young generation.
“We hope that the government through the respective ministries will continue to give us such informative and educative exhibits,” she said.
Nkululeko Dlamini from Cowdray Park said; “This year’s trade fair is spectacular although the space taken up by exhibitors seems to be smaller compared to last year.”
Patrick Moyo from Makokoba said the trade fair was better in terms of the quality of exhibits compared to last year.
He said of the foreign stands he visited, the Congo Brazzaville and South Africa stands were outstanding.
“The quality of exhibits at the Congo Brazzaville and South Africa stands was very high,” he said.
