Three die in truck accident

THREE people died in a road accident along Rusape-Nyanga Road, with the driver reported to have been off route last Saturday.Kudakwashe Shiripinde (46) was driving along Rusape-Nyanga Road towards Rusape with three passengers on board when the accident happened.

Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda, confirmed the accident and said: “Shiripinde was driving a DAF truck towards Rusape with three passengers on board and when he got at the 15km peg he lost control of the truck after a tyre burst. The truck veered off the road and landed on its roof.

“The three passengers on board died on the spot, but the driver escaped unhurt. The three late passengers were taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary. One of the dead passengers was identified as Webster Shiripinde (21) and the other two were still to be identified,” he said.

Asst Insp Chananda said the owner of the truck, Mr Stondon Karipache (41) of Belvedere in Harare said the truck was off route when the accident occurred.
