Three killed, two injured in car accident

THREE people died on the spot including the driver while two were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a canal along Section 25 Road in Triangle, police confirmed yesterday.Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Peter Zhanero said the accident occurred on Sunday at about 12 noon.

He identified the deceased as Tauni Mwanakavani (33), Unity Muvingi (19), Tsitsidzashe Makovere (21) all of Zororo. He said the bodies were taken to Collin Saunders Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

“I confirm receiving an accident report that claimed three people including the driver while two others were injured. The bodies were taken to Collin Saunders Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.

“The  injured were also rushed to the same hospital where their condition is stable,” said Insp Zhanero.
He said on the day in question, Mwanakavani was driving the car, a Mazda 323 with four passengers on board.

“On arrival at the bridge along  the same road near Section 7 in Triangle, Mwanakavani lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off  the road to the right and plunged into a flooded canal thereby killing three of its occupants,” said Insp Zhanero.
