Three to contest Gutu East by-election

THREE candidates will battle it out for the right to represent Gutu East constituency in the National Assembly in next month’s by-election after they successfully filed their papers today.

Cde Zvarevashe Masvingise of Zanu PF, Mr Gift Gonese, an independent candidate and Mr Zivanai Nzvenga of NCA party successfully filed their papers at the nomination court.

The nomination court sat at the Masvingo provincial court from 10 am and closed at 4 pm.

Presiding officer Mr Taurai Gavi announced the names of the successful candidates at the close of nominations.

The by-election will be held on June 14to fill a vacancy created by the expulsion of Mr Benjamin Ganyiwa from Zanu PF.

Mr Ganyiwa was voted Gutu East National Assembly representative in the 2023 harmonised elections.
