BLACK Mambas might have lost two of their most influential players — Honey Chimutimunzeve and Nicholas “Tico-Tico” Alifandika — but the police side remain optimistic they will be a competitive force. Mambas secretary Edward Tshuma said the move is meant to expose the two players to a better level of competition as they hope to return to the Premier League soon.
He said they have good replacements for the duo.
“They remain our members of the force. It’s for them to be exposed to a better league because we are looking forward to be there.
“They remain our players, it’s just an exchange so that they get exposed for this (last) half of the season. I think they would have gained enough experience by the end of the season.
“In terms of performance, we also have equal replacements for the team,” said Tshuma.
Tshuma said they were happy with their first round performance, but admitted that it’s been a tough competition as all teams are proving to be equally good.
“Of course, a review of the first half generally the Northern Region league has been very competitive. I think all teams are geared up, the first half was interesting.
“Everybody wishes to win every game, but it’s not always like that because this is a competitive league.
“So, I think we fared well, we won some games and we lost some but we are expecting to win matches in the second half, actually we are prepared.
“I can safely say we managed to maintain ourselves in a better position of the log. We managed to be in the top eight and we are on course because the season is still raw. We are going to evaluate ourselves.
“Of course, we remain contenders, that’s our mission. Our mission is to be on top and we are going to fight to the last nail,” said Tshuma.
The police side, which had a good start to their campaign winning their opening matches with big margins, went through a rough patch along the way and are currently sitting in seventh place with 24 points from seven wins and three draws.
They have lost seven matches and are 16 points behind pacesetters, Gunners.
