Tight race in Division One

THE World Navi Northern Region Division One league race is proving to be a tight one with no changes among the top five teams in the past four weeks.
Gunners have remained on pole position with 48 points after dismissing relegation fighters, Chegutu Pirates, 5-0 on Saturday. The log leaders were the biggest winners while Pirates dropped into 16th place and coach, Gipter Raiva, conceded defeat.

“We lost, we were lucky because we were supposed to have lost by a bigger margin than that. I believe it was not our day. “We had a lot of injuries, all our goalkeepers were injured so we were forced to field an injured goalkeeper.

“We had no option but it is not a scapegoat for the loss, it wasn’t just our day. If Brazil can lose by seven goals we can also lose. We are going back to the drawing board and prepare for our next game because we need to survive. I am not worried about the position because we have more games to play,” Raiva said.

Second placed Flame Lilly beat Twalumba 3-0 to remain within striking distance of the leaders.
