The premier arts festival is held annually and is running under the theme “The Engagement Party” at the Harare Gardens. Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tarirai Dube yesterday said adequate police had been deployed at the event.
“We have deployed adequate officers at Hifa so that we ensure that there is peace and tranquility during the festival,” Asst Insp Dube said.
He said officers would have day and night patrols inside and outside the Harare Gardens until the event ends. Police also warned all those bent on causing mayhem during the international event that they would be dealt with thoroughly.Hifa attracts tourists from the region, Europe, Asia and as far as America.
The 2011 edition of Hifa is also a party a joyful celebration of extraordinary programmes, encompassing more diversity and innovation than in any previous festival.
