UPCOMING TikTok content creator from Bulawayo, 20-year-old Ashton Nyathi, is steadily carving a name for himself in the digital entertainment space, capturing the attention of thousands of viewers through humorous skits, pranks and engaging public interviews.
Known as @ashton_txl on TikTok, the young creator has managed to grow his audience to close to 100 000 followers in just one year, a milestone that highlights the growing popularity of his content and the strong connection he has built with his audience.
His videos, which often feature spontaneous street interactions, playful humour and relatable moments, have helped him stand out in a crowded digital space where thousands of creators compete for attention daily.
Like many creators who eventually find success online, Ashton said his journey into content creation started casually, without the pressure of building a brand or attracting a large following.
“I started making content just for the fun of it. I do skits, pranks and public interviews. I choose it because that’s what I’m best at. At first, it was just something I enjoyed doing in my spare time, just recording ideas and sharing them online, but people started enjoying the videos and supporting the content,” he said.
Ashton explained that he chose the style of content he produces because it allows him to showcase his personality while also interacting with people from different walks of life.
According to the socialite, public interviews and prank-style videos create genuine moments that audiences often find entertaining because they are natural and unscripted.
Among the videos he has posted, one particular clip has stood out and helped him gain significant traction on the platform.
A video titled “Drip Check” has become one of his most popular clips, attracting over 800 000 views and drawing positive reactions from viewers who enjoy its humour and witty delivery.
“‘Drip Check’ with over 800k views is loaded with bars and jokes. People really enjoyed that video because it was fun, energetic, and the responses were just natural. When I made it, I didn’t think it would attract such massive numbers,” he said.
Content creation can sometimes come with challenges such as negative comments, pressure to constantly produce new ideas or difficulties in balancing online work with personal life. However, Ashton said his journey so far has been relatively smooth compared to what many other creators experience.
“I haven’t faced any serious problems. For me, it has mostly been a positive journey, and I’ve just been focusing on creating more content and improving what I do,” he said.
He added that one of the biggest motivations behind his consistency has been the support he receives from people close to him, including friends and family, as they encourage him to continue soldiering on.
“Family and friends provide support. They always show love and encourage me to keep posting and keep pushing, and that kind of support really helps when you are trying to grow as a creator,” he said.
With the rise of TikTok as a global entertainment platform, many young creatives have been able to transform simple ideas into thriving digital careers.
Ashton is among the growing number of creators who are using social media to showcase their creativity and connect with audiences in new ways.
His ability to create entertaining and relatable content has helped him build a loyal audience that continues to engage with his videos.
For aspiring creators who may be thinking about entering the world of content creation, Ashton offered simple advice centred on confidence and belief in one’s abilities.
“Believe in yourself and be confident in what you do. If you trust your ideas and stay true to yourself, people will eventually connect with what you are doing,” he said.
Ashton started content creation in 2025.
His first shot was a skit that reflected monetary and comfort differences between using a commuter omnibus as a mode of transport and using InDrive.
The punches on the joke made him a darling and an overnight internet sensation, who currently has close to 100 000 followers on social media.
His journey highlights how creativity, confidence and consistency can transform a simple hobby into a platform with global potential for one to monetise their content.
