A TILL operator at Bigybite Wholesale allegedly backdated sales and used her supervisor’s pass-code to steal US$4 357 from her employer.

Only US$196 was recovered.

Nyaradzo Mukono (22) of New Chisamba, Sakubva, recently appeared before Mutare provincial magistrate, Mr Langton Carter.

She was facing fraud charges as defined in Section 136 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9.23.

Mukono was asked not to plead and was remanded out of custody to October 28 on $60 000 bail.

Mr Thurstone Mubvumbi prosecuted and said sometime this year, Mukono accessed her supervisor, Ms Dephine Mhlanga’s Personal Identification Number (PIN) and used it to log onto the till point.

Mr Mubvumbi said Mukono backdated the sales and served customers using those dates.

All the money she collected from customers was converted to her personal use.

She would later update the dates to current ones and revert to the use of her own PIN.
