TILL WE MEET AGAIN, GOODBYE FAITH

RETAIL outlet owners have been urged to safeguard their employees when they finish work late.

This follows the brutal murder of Faith Musonza, 36, whose nipples and nails were cut off with a sharp object.

Her body was found in a drain close to her home on Monday

Speaking at Faith’s memorial service in Hatfield organised by her employers, Spar Zimbabwe, Hatfield Residents Association chairman, Shakie Mushambi, said supermarkets should ensure their employees arrive home safely.

“Companies such as Spar should exercise corporate social responsibility to ensure that employees are safe.

“They should transport their workers home, especially those who knock off late, to guarantee their safety.

“The streets are not safe these days, and it is not right to put employees’ lives in danger.

“By the time they knock off, they will fall prey to robbers,” he said.

Cranborne Neighbourhood Watch chairman, Donald Jamela, echoed the same sentiments.

“I often met Faith at odd hours while she was coming from work, and would ask her why her employers couldn’t provide transport for her.

“If they do not take action, more cases will be recorded,” he said.

Jamela said communities should come together and cut the long grass along roads.

“People in the same communities must create groups so that they alert each other when there is danger,” he said.

Faith’s workmate, Tsitsi Chigwida, said she was saddened by the death of her friend.

“I last saw her on Thursday last week while she was making burgers at the burger stand.

“We are sad that we have lost such a great character who worked hard to serve the company,” she said.
