Television personality Tinopona Katsande, who recently gave birth to her first baby, has started working on a television programme, First Steps, that seeks to educate first-time pregnant women on what to expect. The former ZiFM Stereo presenter said the talk show for expecting mothers was inspired by her experience.

“First Steps is a fun and entertaining interactive, informative and educative 30-minute talk show focusing on all things involving new mum and baby,” she said.

“The magazine talk show is shot in a studio and on location depending on the topic. As a new mother myself and having gone through the nine arduous months of pregnancy, I will be sharing my personal experiences thus far and sharing experiences from other expecting new moms. The show aims to demystify the myths and anxiety surrounding birth from a cultural and scientific perspective.”

The show will go along with competitions that have fantastic prizes.

“I am thoroughly excited about this new project because it’s the first production that I have my hand in behind and in front of the camera as presenter and producer of the show. I am working with one of the best filmmakers in the industry.

“Obrian Mudyiwenyama and his production house Fine Line Media in Marlborough will assist me.

“Obrian is meticulous about picture and set quality so I know at every stage the production will be coming out well and he is teaching me so much about international standards of TV productions.

“The show is aimed at addressing all things new mum and baby to the woman in the context of an African culture or African setting but living in a modern cosmopolitan environment.

“So often as a new or expectant mum everyone has advice on how to best go through pregnancy, delivery and then raising of the new-born, particularly from a cultural or traditional perspective verses the medical or European perspective.

“The show will cover all this and hopefully give some answers to alleviate the anxieties of a new or expectant mother,” she said.

Since featuring on Studio 263 Tin Tin had not done any other television productions but said she is also involved in a script reading for a confirmed role as part of the cast of a new Zim soapie called “Contested”.

The actress said she is so excited about being a mother.

She gave birth to a baby boy Yambuko two weeks ago and says every day is a new experience for both her and the baby.
