ZIMBABWE striker Tino Kadewere is in line for return to competitive football action after he was included in the Olympique Lyon squad for the Europe League match against Danish side, Brondby, this evening.

Kadewere has been out with a thigh injury he picked up when featuring for Zimbabwe in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa earlier this month.

Lyon manager Peter Bosz revealed he had to deal with a series of injuries in his camp and had turned to Kadewere for their second Group A game against Brondby this evening.

The French side lead the group with three points, from the 2-0 win over Rangers. While Kadewere, Malo Gusto and Bradley Barcola return to the squad, Lyon will be without key players that include Jerome Boateng, Jason Denayer, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Moussa Dembélé and Islam Slimani.

Lyon manager Bosz told the club’s website that he was looking forward to having a strong squad ahead of the Europa game, which precedes the derby against Saint Etienne at the weekend.

“Jérôme (Boateng) has a minor sprain. He won’t be available, and the same for Jason (Denayer) and Islam (Slimani). Malo (Gusto) has trained with us, as has Tino (Kadewere), so they will be available.

“The injured players are unavailable for a few days, not several weeks, so that’s good. The squad is strong, so I will have eleven good players starting tomorrow.

“It’s an important match for us. We absolutely want to win. We have several injured players. I don’t want to talk about the derby. The most important thing is (the Europa League) match,” said Bosz.
