Tino Kadewere OUT!

WARRIORS’ striker Tino Kadewere has been ruled out of tomorrow’s away Group G 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar International Stadium.

The France-based Kadewere suffered a thigh injury on Friday in a dull and uninspiring goalless draw against Bafana Bafana at the National Sports Stadium.

He was replaced in the 56th minute by Terrence Dzukamanja, who is now the only out striker at Warriors’ head coach Zdravko Logarušic’s disposal.

Speaking from Bahir Dah yesterday, Warriors’ manager Wellington Mpandare confirmed that Kadewere had suffered a tear of the rectus femoris muscle following a Magnetic Resonance Imaging scan (MRI) and was out of the tie, although he travelled with the team.

“MRI confirmed a tear of the rectus femoris muscle. He is out of the Ethiopia match,” said Mpandare.

The Warriors need a win against the home side tomorrow as a loss would spell doom despite four more group games to play.

Ghana top the group with three points following their 1-0 win over Ethiopia on Friday and the Warriors and South Africa are tied on one point each.

The Warriors could have made their work much easier had they taken advantage of dominating their home game against Bafana.

Zimbabwe only managed a single shot on target while South Africa had three shots on target.
