TINO Kadewere says his family, and the love he received from Nantes fans, led him to complete a permanent move at the French Ligue 1 side despite offers from England and Turkey.
He says he feels loved at Nantes, where he spent six months on loan, last season.
The 28-year-old completed his permanent switch from Olympique Lyon on July 2 and is now looking forward to a fresh start to a career that has been blighted by injuries in the last two years.
“I am really grateful to have secured a move to Nantes, honestly, it feels really good because the six months that I had here I felt so good and really loved,” Kadewere told Zimpapers Sport.
“From the very first day I got here, I felt at home. I have a great group of guys who are very supportive and also the support that we get is just extraordinary, so I felt like it was the best for me and also for my family.”
At Nantes, he shares the same dressing room with former Tottenham Hotspur and France forward Moussa Sissoko.
Kadewere is also teammates with Mostafa Mohamed of Egypt and Moses Simon, who helped the Super Eagles finish second at the 2023 AFCON finals.
Kadewere’s family also played a critical role in the striker’s decision.
“I did have other options here in France, Turkey, and there were some clubs in the Championship in England but I wanted to stay because of the support and also knowing already the league made everything easy for me.
“Not forgetting also my kids love it here and they felt really good in their new school here in Nantes.
“I am doing my very best to keep myself in good shape and also try to avoid injuries because for the past two years I have been on and off with injuries.
“I am happy to be here in Nantes and I am looking forward to the start of the season and just praying and hoping for the best this season.”
Kadewere scored one goal in 14 appearances for Nantes last season.
