TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Tinotenda Natasha Munema from Mkoba 14 suburb in Gweru was crowned Miss Gweru on Saturday, in a dazzling celebration of beauty, intellect and talent.

Munema, who works in the hospitality sector, stole the spotlight by securing three titles —Miss Gweru 2025, Miss Personality and Miss Talent — earning a total of US$550 in cash prizes.

Radiating joy, Munema shared that the crown symbolises more than personal achievement; it marks the beginning of her journey to effect meaningful change.

“I’m thrilled to be crowned queen. This is my opportunity to reach international platforms,” she said moments after receiving the title.

Her advocacy centres on menstrual health, a cause she is deeply passionate about.

“My campaign is dedicated to providing menstrual pads to girls who cannot afford them. Every girl deserves to feel confident, clean and cared for — especially during her period. Through this platform, I aim to raise awareness, break the stigma, and ensure no girl is held back by something so natural. Let’s model not just fashion, but compassion,” Munema said.

Malta Moyo was named First Princess, receiving US$300, while Abundance Mudzidzi took the Second Princess title along with a US$200 prize. Petronella Phiri won the Miss People’s Choice award and Natasha Magwe was honoured as Super Model.

The glamorous evening was further enlivened by electrifying live performances from Gweru’s Dollar and the Beat Band, and a soulful set by Afro-soul sensation, Nyasha David.

Guest of honour Tanyaradzwa Chimanyiwa commended the organisers for creating a platform that empowers young women.
