Speaking at the Workers’ Day commemorations organised by the George Nkiwane-led Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions at the Gwanzura Stadium Minister Mpariwa said the law would enforce outcomes of TNF.
“Government, with the support of the social partners, is strengthening the TNF to give it  legal status and to backstop it with a full-time secretariat,” she said.
“At the moment the policy principles that are to inform the drafting of the TNF legislation and the establishment of the full-time secretariat are being discussed in Cabinet,” she added.
Minister Mpariwa said the Government was doing all it could to improve the plight of workers.
“Government is currently working on measures to put into full operation the Employment Forum,” she said.
“The forum seeks to enhance activities aimed at creating conditions necessary for employment creation and generating jobs in the formal sector as well as informal economy, targeting women and young people.”
Zimbabwe is one of the countries, which have pledged to promote employment in line with the International Labour Organisation- Decent Work Agenda for 2008.
She said apart from social dialogue, the Government and social partners were                      working together to introduce legislative reforms mainly aimed at strengthening workers’ fundamental right to free collective bargaining and freedom of association. — New Ziana.
