To the Editor: Please reward our netball Gems

THE Government should reward the senior netball team in kind as a way of appreciating their admirable performance in Liverpool.

The Gems, who finished eighth, at the Vitality Netball World Cup in Liverpool raised the flag of our country high and they deserve a better token of appreciation so as to boost their way of living.

The girls have shown the world that Zimbabwe has the talent.

They have also raised the bar for the girl child and found solace following the upsetting performance by the warriors at the Afcon tournament held in Egypt in June.

Our netball team played with passion and unlike the Warriors, exhibited dedication to the game ahead of monetary rewards.

As the Gems performed well, I think they deserve gifts both in cash and kind to motivate others to serve the country first and enjoy rewards later.

They have whizzed from previous world ranking of 13th position to 8, which is impressive.

We did not expect such an impressive performance as it was their second World Cup performance.

At least we are also happy as Africans as all the four African Countries which went to the World Cup come at the top eight.

Gems fan,

Harare.
