Tobacco auction floors to close next week

THE Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has set August 22, 2024, as the official closing date for auction tobacco sales, with mop-up sales scheduled to take place on August 29, 2024.

In a statement yesterday, TIMB public relations officer Mrs Chelesani Tsarwe said sales will continue at the contract floors until all contracted tobacco has been sold.

So far, 235 million kilogrammes of tobacco have been sold at both auction and contract floors, generating US$790 million.
