Zimbabwe’s tobacco marketing season closed on 27 July, with more than 140 million kg of the golden leaf valued at $514,3 million having been sold.
“The flue-cured tobacco auction clean-up sale for the 2012 marketing season will be held on Wednesday, 22 August 2012,” TIMB said in a statement, adding there was a possibility for an extension of the mop-up.
“Depending on the volume of deliveries the clean-up sale may be continued for more than one day, until all delivered tobacco has been sold,” it added.
While auction sales were concluded, contract sales are still ongoing.
A total of 140 million kg of flue-cured tobacco have so far been sold, lower than the 150 million kg target the Government had set for the 2011-2012 season.
