Tobacco sales rake in US$552 m

during the corresponding period at an average price of US$3,73/kg.

Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board TIMB chief executive Dr Andrew Matibiri said the board will not review the target delivery of  170 million kg despite a recent decline in deliveries at the auction floors.

Zimbabwe is moving towards regaining its status as one of the major tobacco producers in the world.

The increase in tobacco production has been attributed to its favourable price and the land reform which saw many new farmers taking up tobacco growing.
