Zim dancehall sensation Tocky Vibes will tomorrow tour Kadoma for his first gig at the Odyssey where he will share the stage with young and upcoming chanters from the mining city.
Tocky who was born Obey Makamure will be the main act at the gig that will feature the talents of Sticko-Fire, Senzo, D Gun and Nembo all from Kadoma.
Other guest performers include Mighty Fire, Eye Spy, Charty Vybz, DJ Sunnaz, Junior Nicky Spy, Ghetto Soja and Orla Tee.
Also featuring will be DJs Dee Nosh from Harare, Tonny, Ice and Knox.
But all eyes will be on Tocky. The “Ah Ah hii hii” singer is tearing up the airwaves with his socially conscious songs that have endeared him well with both young and the old.
He has many lyrically rich songs like “Kure Kwegava” and “Simudza Maoko” but on “Mai” the 21-year-old struck all the right chords and will go places as he suggests on “Aenda Nenyika”.
Everywhere he goes, Tocky leaves fond memories with fans begging for more.
Some of his songs talk about everyday life of ordinary Zimbabweans and the struggles they go through.
For instance, on “Mhai” Tocky makes a covenant with his mother that they would be there for each other through thick and thin.
He sings: “Tocky kana zvichinge zvanaka usandikanganwe . . .”
While on “Tocky Aenda Nenyika” he gives thanks to his multitudes of fans for the great support.
Other songs that have made him a household name include “Ndivhurei Maziso”, “Hama”, “Ndini Ndirikurira”, “Simudza Maoko” and “Vakafa Havana Chavakaona”.
Those who witnessed his outstanding performance at the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival” held at the Glamis Stadium recently will attest that Tocky raised the bar high for himself and the others.
Definitely Tocky is enjoying a purple patch of his career and he is not taking any prisoners.
Though controversial when it comes to his attire, Tocky defended his style saying he wants to be a servant of his fans who are his kings.
And at the beer festival, Tocky was dressed like Nehanda Nyakasikana much to the surprise of many.
Show organiser Kudzaishe Matongo said the show was meant to give exposure to Kadoma dancehall artistes.
He said Zim dancehall had virtually taken over and that artistes from other cities deserved a chance as those in the capital Harare.
