Today I face the master: Tonderai Ndiraya

CAN we really say David Mandigora failed?

I don’t think so, he only failed to meet the target that was set but the league is won after 30 games. He did not fail to win the league but failed to reach the number of points that were set.

But there is always a starting point in coaching, this is how I am starting and looking forward to building that profile. I have had the opportunity to learn from the best.

Talk of the legendary Kallisto Pasuwa, who came from nowhere: he was nothing but he built his profile and went on to be one of the best coaches in the country, so he is a leading light and I would always want to follow his path.

I have worked with him I have learnt a lot from him I have worked with Elvis Chiweshe and Mandigora recently. So if you put these men together you can only get so much.

The situation right now resembles that of 2011 when Pasuwa took over without much expected of him. It can go in the same way, but like I have always said, it goes down to hardwork. But the history set by Pasuwa is very difficult to emulate, but I obviously want to try and follow that path and hopefully it will work in my favour because history has a way of repeating itself.

On ZPC Kariba I watched their previous match when they booted out Caps United in the Chibuku Cup, they are now a changed side now and that goes down to the big man Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa, one of the best coaches around.

If you want to look at most Premiership coaches, especially those with a Dynamos history, they all came through his hands. We hope the few tricks we got from him will help us get one over him today.

We expect a tough challenge, especially now that his pieces are beginning to come together.

The arrival of Takesure Chinyama is a big boost, it’s quite possible that he can play a leading role if he can stay fit. We also have the returning (Roderick) Mutuma and I think the two have brought in huge amount of experienced.

They have all scored and played well in the league match against Highlanders and in the cup game, and we hope this will spare them to continue scoring.

I have seen some brilliance which Takesure had maybe three years ago, but we have to be mindful that he is growing up and with age sometimes the speed reduces. He might not be the same player he was back then, but am sure you will attest that he has shown he can still produce the results.

Coming to team news our captain Augustine Mbara is out because of suspension normally it’s a low when you lose the leader of the troops, but we have youngsters who are coming up and can take up the challenge.

Chitiyo is back in training so is Masimba Mambare and hopefully they will have a part to play.

Tonderayi Ndiraya was speaking to The Sunday Mail Sport’s Ishemunyoro Chingwere at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on August 14, 2015 ahead of today’s clash with ZPC Kariba at Rufaro.
