A 30-YEAR-OLD Pumula South man had what could be the most expensive toilet break in recent memory when was allegedly robbed of US$100 by three knife-wielding men while on his way to the restroom at a bottle store in Thorngroove.
The assailants covered the man’s eyes with their hands and cut through his pants to extract the money.
Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, the deputy police spokesperson for Bulawayo confirmed the incident, which occurred on August 26 at around 7.20PM.
The complainant was drinking beer at a local bottle store when he decided to use the restroom.
“Three unknown accused persons followed him and all were brandishing okapi knives,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.
The suspects grabbed the complainant by the neck before covering his eyes.
“They grabbed him by the neck, covered his eyes using their palms and went on to cut his trousers pocket, took his cash amounting to US$100 and went away,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.
The suspects fled from the scene and no arrests have been reported.
Asst Insp Ndlovu appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects to report at any nearest police station.
