Establishing the right tone at the top is essential in fortifying an organisation’s reputation and its relationship with stakeholders.
There are many global and local examples of corporate failures and sub-optimal performance by corporate leaders who have neglected to prioritise the development of a culture of integrity.
The importance of good corporate governance cannot be overemphasised.
It is against this background that the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe (ICDZ) came up with the Tone at the Top Leadership Convention.
This is a platform where leaders can interact and offer tangible solutions on how best to align ethics and values to business strategies and operating plans for sustainable development.
This year’s theme is “Innovate, Engage and Empower”.
Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care, General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga will be the guest of honour at this year’s convention.
Other speakers will include renowned local and global business experts such as Dr Debra Brown of Governance Solutions (Canada), Dr Ashraf Gamal Eldin of Institute of Corporate Governance(Dubai), Tiago Martins of Certified Risk (Brazil), Old Mutual managing director Ms Gloria Zvaravanhu, Mr Terrence Chimanya of Seed Co Ltd, Dr Justine Chinoperekweyi and Lucy Marowa among others.
It is the desire of the ICDZ that this convention be recognised as the premier and most prestigious business event in Zimbabwe.
In line with this, the convention is aimed at attracting business leaders from all the sectors of the economy.
Distinguished local personalities will deliver presentations and share their experiences in leadership, corporate culture and governance in their organisations.
Key topics to be discussed include:
Leading with authenticity: Strategies for success with your own leadership style;
When corporate culture is clear, resilience follows;
Innovation in a dynamic environment: A winning strategy; and
Next level governance in an era of massive transformational change.
The Tone at the Top Leadership Convention is a part learning, part networking and part inspiration event.
It will leave attendees energised with new ideas to implement.
It will also provide a networking platform for executive management and directors who will have opportunities to interact with fellow key decision-makers.
The ICDZ educates, trains, leads and provides information on the latest skills, trends, ideas and other know-how in corporate governance to all Zimbabwean leaders in the private, public and non-profit sectors.
It empowers directors to elevate board performance thereby strengthening investor trust and public confidence by ensuring that today’s directors are well prepared for tomorrow’s dynamic challenges.
