“We are grateful to Air Force of Zimbabwe for providing the helicopter to fly around our legend. We would have loved to land at the venue but because of security concerns we have decided to land on the open space between Harare Magistrates’ Courts and Rainbow Towers Hotel,” Hozheri said.
Tuku will then be escorted by police, drum majorettes and a motorcade comprising over 10 cars to the Meikles Hotel where South Africans Ringo Madlingozi, Steve

Dyer and Auntie Dorothy Masuka of the “Gona Ramachingura” fame will be waiting for the superstar.
These are some of the artistes who are featured on Tuku’s collaborative album titled “Abi’angu” (My Friends) and expected to thrill music lovers at the Glamis Arena tonight.

On the local front, musicians such as Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, Peter Moyo, Chimbetu siblings — Suluman, Tryson and Douglas among others will wear white on the stroke of midnight singing happy birthday songs for the legend.
The Chimbetus will be performing for the first time under one roof.

Dubbed “Dendera United” Allan, Suluman, Tryson, Douglas and Saiwe will unite for Tuku’s cause.
Tuku will be on stage for three hours, performing some of the songs that he did with other musicians that include Suluman, ExQ and others who are also part of the bill.

Tuku will relaunch his album “Sarawoga” and a DVD “Nzou Nemhuru” tonight.
In a career spanning over four decades, Tuku is arguably one of the best Zimbabwean artistes.

Tuku has won a host of awards that include M-Net Best Soundtrack (Neria) in 1992, Nama (Best Group/Male Vocalist) in 2002, Kora (Best arrangement Ndakuvara) in 2002, SAMA Finalist (Best Traditional/African Adult Contemporary DVD) in 2002, Reel Award Winner (for Best African Language) in 2003, Kora (Best African Male Artiste and Lifetime Achievement) in 2003, Nama (Best Group/Male Vocalist) in 2003, Zima (Music Ambassador) in 2004, Zima  (Best Music Ringing Tone “Handiro Dambudziko”) in 2006, Cultural Ambassador — Zimbabwe Tourism Association in 2007, Nama (Outstanding Musician) in 2008, Honorary M.Sc (Fine Arts) Women’s University in Africa in 2008 and Cultural Ambassador — Project Concern International in 2009, among others.
