Tony Witness livens up Victoria Falls with EP launch

Leonard Ncube in Victoria Falls

VICTORIA FALLS songwriter and producer, Mr Melody (real name Tony Witness) has released a seven-track EP as he seeks to make his presence felt in the music arena.

Mr Melody is a songwriter/composer and recording artiste under Danica Studios of Victoria Falls. He is also a graphics director and designer under Tony Witness Visuals.

He started his music career in 2018 and has worked on a number of tracks, some of them in collaboration with the likes of Shinsoman, Chuzhe Int of Zambia and Bizzy Manake of Kenya.

The multilingual artiste specialises in bongo flava (Tanzanian music) and Afro-pop/Afro-Niger. The EP, titled Emotional Love, is in five languages; Shona, KiSwahili, Chewa, IsiNdebele, and English. Kiss is the cover song.

Come Back is a song in which the artiste begs their partner to come back to them. The third track, Carolina features Divine Ndlovu, a budding singer and talks about a cheating spouse.

The fourth track – Slowly – is an emotional love song while the fifth – Addiction – is about a man telling his lover that he cannot spend a day without seeing her. Only One is a promise of eternal love.

The final track, Emotional Love is about a lover professing their love.

Mr Melody performed some of the songs at his birthday party at the new Royal African Dining and the song Kiss sent attendees, both young and old, into a frenzy.

The party was attended by about 100 people comprising mostly Mr Melody’s family, close friends and fans.

The party ignited life into the quiet city as  people danced until midnight. The occasion exposed the great desire for night life in Victoria Falls as some uninvited people gatecrashed the event.

Singers from Danica Studios entertained guests. It was a romantic affair as attendees were dressed to the nines with Mr Melody’s girlfriend – Leslie Ndlovu posing for photos with the birthday boy on the red carpet.

After the presentation of gifts and presents, it was time for Mr Melody to present his EP. If the feedback from attendees is anything to go by, then the producer is onto something.

Mr Melody said the EP is now available on Audio Mack, Sound Cloud and Spotify.

“We’re working on videos for the album. So far, only one song, Kiss has a video that’s available on YouTube. Next year we’ll embark on what will be dubbed the ‘Emotional Love Tour’ and remix some of the songs with international and local artistes.”

He said he chose to launch the album at his birthday party so as to create a vibe in the mostly quiet city.

“I noticed that my hometown has a shortage of events so I decided to bring this new experience. It was a beautiful red-carpet dinner with a glorious photoshoot,” he said.

The producer has done 13 singles, mostly in collaboration with other local and international artists. Most of them have received significant airplay on radio.
