Top gospel and Zim dancehall musicians will tomorrow converge at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex for a “Build Zimbabwe” show that is expected to attract thousands of people from the sprawling town.

The free show to be held during the day, will coincide with the launch of “Build Zimbabwe”, one of the biggest housing projects in the country being spearheaded by the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Housing Association.

Under “Build Zimbabwe”, Zaha will encourage people to start saving money in their fixed bank accounts towards acquiring residential stands and houses.

The use of banks is meant to avoid situations where a lot of people have lost their money to land barons after handing over cash to them.

In the case of “Build Zimbabwe”, a home seeker will be in control of their finances in their fixed bank account and can only withdraw the money to pay for a serviced stand or a completed house.

Announcing the show at a press conference on Tuesday, Zaha director general Dr Killer Zivhu said it was meant to chart a new chapter among Zimbabweans for a culture of saving money towards acquiring residential stands and houses.

He said it was a lot easier for Zimbabweans to save for other things like lobola, holidays and parties without thinking much of putting aside money for housing.

“At the concert, we will announce the banks that we will be dealing with and these are liquid banks so people are assured that their money will be safe,” he said.

Dr Zivhu said the Zim-Asset target of providing more than 300 000 houses and serviced residential stands by 2018 needed the support of stakeholders in the housing sector.

Sensational gospel musician Mathias Mhere, who is the Zaha ambassador, will headline the cast of musicians at the Chitungwiza concert.

Mhere was in May 2013 appointed charity homes ambassador by Zaha and his job has been to identify those in needy in both rural and urban areas.

Mhere is one of Zimbabwe’s best gospel artists since he rose to prominence in 2012 with his album “Anoita Minana” which carried the hit “Favour” which topped the gospel charts.

Other gospel musicians to serenade the revellers will include Sebastian Magacha, Kudzi Nyakudya, Vabati VaJehova, Killer T and Flame B.

Magacha is riding high with his album “Back to Sender”.

Killer T is one of the rising stars of Zim dancehall and has so far churned out hit songs like “Tirikumhanya”, “Makarova Gunners”, “Suspects”, “Officer Mirai Chirukazi” and “Ziso Rako Hameno”.
